Advocacy Resource Toolkits
The Partnership is creating Advocacy Resource Toolkits to highlight the efforts of breast cancer advocates in the MENA region and help others advance their work on the following topics:
- Patient Support & Advocacy
- Community Education and Outreach
- Corporate Social Responsibility
- Media Awareness Campaigns/New Media
- Health Information and Analysis
- Breast Cancer Networks and Alliances
The toolkits will provide lessons learned and relevant resources for those interested in replicating the activities or programs in their communities. The toolkits will be widely distributed and featured on the Partnership website and online advocates network.
The Partnership is requesting submissions of resources to include:
- flyers
- brochures
- toolkits
- training materials
- clinical studies
- publications
- videos
- photos
- website links
Materials in English, Arabic, or French are welcomed. Please submit a short description with each sample and email to partnership@bcpartnership.org
Case Studies: To feature an organization, individual, or a significant breast cancer activity please download and complete the Toolkit Case Study Template (DOC 225 KB) [عربية (DOC 188 KB)] and submit to partnership@bcpartnership.org.
Please submit your resource samples and case studies by Friday, February 12, 2010 for consideration. Organizations and individuals who submit case studies and resources that are selected will be given credit.

- Media Kit — Advice and tools for effective ways to use the news media to highlight and expand the reach of your breast cancer awareness work.
Prevention
- Breast Cancer Facts - Breast Care Kuwait provides helpful information on how to prevent breast cancer.
- Cancer Risk Factors - M. D. Anderson Cancer Center provides a list of breast cancer risk factors that can assist in early detection.
- Cancer Screening - Different age ranges require different frequencies and types of screening. M. D. Anderson Cancer Center clarifies which screenings are appropriate for various age groups.
- Early Detection Plan - The Jordan Breast Cancer Program (JBCP) provides information on what method of treatment should be used to detect breast cancer early.
- Cancer Myths and Facts - The King Hussein Cancer Center provides factual information about some commonly held beliefs about cancer.
- Breast Cancer Risks, Causes, Symptoms - Breast Care Kuwait provides information in Arabic about breast physiology, natural changes due to age, and what to do if you detect any changes. (PDF 325 kb)
- Self Breast Exam Chart - Breast Care Kuwait’s Arabic self-breast exam chart details how to correctly complete an exam. (PDF 289 kb)
- Understanding Breast Cancer - Susan G. Komen for the Cure® provides information on breast cancer facts, risk factors and prevention, and early detection and screening.
- Cancer Prevention - The King Hussein Cancer Center lists steps that you can take to prevent cancer.
- Risk Factors and Prevention - Komen for the Cure provides information on factors that increase your breast cancer risk, and what women who have a higher risk can do.
- Online Breast Self-Exam - Komen for the Cure provides an interactive tool that will help you learn and promote breast self-awareness.
- Breast Self-Exam Cards – Komen for the Cure provides downloadable self-exam cards that demonstrate how to complete a proper self-exam in several languages, including English, Arabic, and French.

- Managing Your Treatment - M. D. Anderson provides details on how to manage treatment side effects.
